We are Detroit Block Works, a community organization working in Detroit, predominantly in North West Detroit neighborhoods. We are working to rebuild our neighborhoods through community involvement and good old fashioned sweat. One block at a time.
To date we have been able to redevelop vacant lots used for illegal tire-dumping, at the intersection of Trinity and Clarita, into a vibrant community space replete with picnic areas, barbecue grills, raised beds for gardening and flowers, a Little Free Library, and walking path. We have also cleared over 800 tires from the neighborhood in coordination with the city. We’ve also reinvigorated a number of neighborhood organizations in the area, as well as facilitated meetings between residents and the city’s Planning and Development, and Housing and Revitalization departments.
